Similar to another reported experience regarding the Organic Search and Content Director role, I completed two interviews and was then ghosted despite multiple follow-ups. What made the experience particularly disappointing was my second interview. The interviewer joined late, kept his camera off for the duration of the conversation, and appeared to be working out or otherwise occupied while interviewing me. Having an interviewer keep their camera off while apparently exercising or distracted during the conversation sent a clear message about how much value was placed on my time and candidacy. It was one of the more disrespectful interview experiences I've encountered in my career. Candidates are expected to be prepared, engaged, and professional throughout the interview process. It's reasonable to expect the same in return. Based on my experience, if this is how candidates are treated during the interview process, it raises legitimate questions about the company's culture and professionalism.
