Had to submit a sample task, which involved basic editing. Then got called for an interview with one of the admin staff members. Overall impression, the company is not good and they adopt some really shady practices. For starters, I applied for an editor role, but they said you don't have SEO experience. I thought maybe I'll be given some entry level editor role with a lower pay package and on-job training, or they will reject my application. And I was ok with either option. But then they offered me a content writer role, and I was really shocked after I saw what they were offering. Basically, they give you 20000 rupees to write 70000-80000 words per month. To put things into perspective, they are offering around 25 paise per word, when the market rate for a freelance writer is 1 rupee per word. Also, they said I will have to do content writing as on-job-training for the editor role, and then if I have developed the "knowledge and skills" , they'll promote me to editor. It absolutely makes no sense to write 3000 words per day to become an editor, and I already have 3 years of content writing experience, so I have no idea why the company would even offer something like that. Also, the designation they are offering is "full-time freelancer", which is just a contradiction in itself, because a freelancer cannot be a full-time employee. But apparently they have done this to avoid legal complications with employees, very shady. Also, they can deduct your pay whenever an article has been "rejected by a client", which is messed up given how paltry the pay already. And my emails to the HR lady to resolve these issues were totally ignored. When they can't get anything out of you, they don't even respond to your questions. Horrible company, I dodged a bullet, should be avoided at all cost.
