      Entrevista

      An in-person interview at its company headquarters. I met with someone from HR and the hiring manager at the same time. The whole interview may have lasted one hour. It was perhaps the most negative interview process I ever had. The interview went perfectly, and the hiring manager and I had some great chemistry. I could really see myself thriving with this person. That day, they called me to reschedule a second interview with some more people from the company's marketing department the following week. This was exciting because it showed me they were very interested in me. I had to ask for more time off from my current employer (always a risky thing when job seeking) and drove over 45 minutes to get to the company. But when I got there, after all my preparation, travel, and excitement, they told me on the spot that the interview was cancelled! I want to tell you, I HAVE NEVER HAD A COMPANY DO THIS TO ME BEFORE! You would think that in this era of cell phone communications they could have let me know sooner. They treated me very poorly, and this told me a great deal about the company's culture. I accepted this awful treatment with grace as expected because I still wanted to work there, but inside I was seething. I had wasted a very precious day's worth of vacation time. The HR person assured me they would work hard to re-schedule. But you know what? THEY NEVER DID. I tried following up with courteous calls and emails to re-schedule, but they never responded to em. I felt they at least could have had the courtesy to tell me they were no longer interested in me, but they never did. Oddly enough, the hiring manager called me three weeks later to tell me I was still the number one candidate! And yet...! I would avoid this company at all costs. If they treat you with such disrespect during the interview process, how do they treat you once you're on-board? The company needs to revamp totally its recruiting policies and treat people decently during the process.
