Initial interviews were pretty straightforward, but the case presentation, where I would present a project from my portfolio, was a bit strange. Both interviewers (I assume they were Lead Designers) did not look like they wanted to be there, and barely paid much attention to my presentation. In the e-mail calling me to the case presentation, I had received very specific instructions regarding what kind of project I should present; there was a heavy emphasis on it being a large, detailed case, showcasing data usage, product thinking, exploration and problem definition. I received some simple questions during the presentation, which I addressed. In the end, I was told "I wish we would've seen more UI and screens"; given that I was asked to bring something very UX-focused and screens were at the end as the most straightforward part of the presentation, as they tend to be. I received a generic rejection e-mail and when I requested feedback, I was given reasons that completely contradicted the information presented in my case and the questions I had responded to the interviewers. ex: the interviewers asked me if I had invested two weeks exclusively in research. I clearly responded that, besides research, I was working on other projects and also meeting with stakeholders during that time. In the feedback that I requested after being rejected, I was told that "Extensive research took one entire quarter, and this does not fit within Deel's timeline" To me, this is proof that either both interviewers didn't bother to pay any attention to a question they asked themselves, or that they straight up invented deceitful reasons in order to move on with another application.
