I received a bug ticket for a major part of our subscription platform. While fixing the bug, I identified a more systemic problem with the architecture, so I wrote a proposal and pitched the fix to my boss. I was given the resources to implement the larger restructuring of the problematic portion of our code. The creative part was the way I built it so our data would heal organically over the period of a year, thus preventing a costly and time consuming backfill of millions of records across multiple sources of truth.
