Start out with what the primary use case of the system should be. Once you've defined it, think about the features needed for it. After you've defined it, think about other use cases (try thinking about relevant, and complimentary use cases), and its features Now think about the tech stack and necessary features of the system (like does it have to be consistent/highly available/fault tolerant)
