I answered yes, that I had taken private students at times in the past, and that I sometimes worked for a small private tutoring agency taking an overflow student or two. I added that I was trying to reduce complexity in my life and would greatly prefer to work at just one place, so I would be glad to ease away from any and all other commitments as the workload at AJ increased. I would appreciate them understanding that initially, as a part-timer with few hours, it might be necessary to continue with other students and emphasized that this was something I wanted to get away from. Perhaps it was this response that killed me, as they want a firm commitment of no outside work, no competition at all, which is a rather unfair and improper expectation for part-time hourly employees.
