I applied online, two days after I was contacted by HR from Foot Locker. A day or two after I had an interview with a Principal Data Scientist. (Nice chat. I was also told that they want to move quickly.) A day or two after they sent me a Data Science questions and programming test. The next work day after I submitted my test answers they proposed a technical interview online meeting. They postponed it by a week. (The technical meeting was scheduled to be two weeks after I submitted the test answers.)
I am not sure why I showed up for the technical interview. I found both the test and the meeting delay quite annoying. During the technical meeting there was too much background noise from the open office location of one of the interviewers. Also, the interviewers seemed somewhat too young and un-experienced. I was very un-impressed by them and I did tell them that the only reason for me to work with them is going to be the salary. (Which turned out is below market.)
Given the interview delay and things I heard from them, at this point I find it very plausible that the technical interview was mostly for them finding a solution of a problem they have; not so much about I to be hired.
