That is so strange because I know someone from California who started working at Veeva Systems recently. There has to be a different reason they didn't want to hire you but they didn't want to tell you that reason. Instead they told you this story hoping you would buy it.

I think so, too. I didn't really buy it. Just odd they would give a reason like that, but also take the time to say I'm the best candidate. Why not just say do a standard rejection? Definitely something odd going on... but I'll be avoiding Veeva moving forward, and will be warning others to do the same.
