Got contacted by hiring manager on linkedin. Expressed my interest for the role and the hiring manager organised for a phone call. This was a 30 mins phone call with a hard stop after 30 minutes. I got asked a few general questions and to rate myself from 1 to 10 in a few different areas of electrical engineering. After the call, I received a rejection email stating they were not progressing with my application, even though I didn't apply for the role. I found the whole thing quite bizarre. Among other things it wasn't clear that the phone call would have been an interview, I thought it was going to be just info sharing.
