Have you worked under a command and control management style?
Sigiloso
I qualified that I have not worked under that style of management. I thrive in an environment where we align on a collaborative vision with clear measurable goals. I need autonomy and accountability to achieve my best performance, and I share transparency of my plans with the management team to support, challenge and build/leverage collaboratively. I then elaborated on a specific example from a previous role sharing the goal, metrics, team dynamic and the outcome. This illustrated that I embrace a "one team, one dream, one number methodology" where the leader has full visibility but empowers individual decision making. I then asked him to qualify "Is that work approach was a cultural fit for his "command and control" leadership style?" Although it had more individual autonomy than the classic definition of a command and control system of management it was best to illustrate my ability, personality, and be honest and transparency about my working style. NB: There was communication stages in my existing style for the director to intervene and affect the final decisions if needed.
