The communication and scheduling were well organised; emails were timely and clear. The interview itself was mixed. After the initial phone screening, I had a video call with two interviewers. While my experience was acknowledged at first, it became clear they were looking for a different profile. One of the interviewers came across as quite hostile at times, asking questions in a way that felt more like a lecture than a discussion (e.g. “Do you realise it takes a human 2 years to be trained in morphology?”). It’s fine to share additional personal opinions, but the delivery should not sound condescending or dismissive. I also found this same interviewer’s tone unusually loud, to the point where it felt like I was being shouted at, likely unintentional, but distracting nonetheless. A headset could have helped.

Long and excessively drawn out process that spanned over 9 months. I spoke to 13 different individuals in 7 different meetings which were a mix of virtual and in person. Multiple calls with their talent acquisition personnel. I had to wake up very early at times for these intermittent one-off interviews or take several day of PTO from my current job to accommodate their interviewing schedule. There were a multitude of changes on short notice about who I would speak to and when throughout the process. All of this to get a rejection after flying out to meet the hiring manager. By the time I made it to the final round, I had already signed a six figure offer with a substantial sign on bonus at another company which is more than 30k more than this role was offering. I think this process was very excessive for $70k base salary. Please streamline your process and if you have more qualified candidates that you are already prioritizing, weed out the less “suitable” candidates earlier in the process so they aren’t wasting time and money. I will likely never apply to anything related to this company again as I’ve never experienced a more frustrating interview process in my life. It is very telling when a company that can’t make decisions effectively in a shorter time frame. It’s very disrespectful to drag potential candidates, especially in such a niche field. Good luck to whoever took that role.
