I recently attended an interview as a tutor to help long term unemployed youngsters with interview and job seeking skills (ironic I know). It was a grueling interview where I had to give a 20 minute presentation in front of 12 delegates as well as answer the usual competency based questions. At the end of the interview I asked when they would let me know, to which they replied I would know either way by Thursday (it was a Tuesday). They were at pains to point out that they had empathy for job seekers and would NEVER not inform interviewees one way or another. Well, you guessed it, Thursday came and went and the following Thursday too and NOTHING. So I called… they did not return my call. I emailed and eventually they responded… by thanking me for attending but they had given the job to someone with more relevant experience as an Administrator. I hadn’t applied or been interviewed for an administrator’s job!
