As a former recruiter and training officer, I will say you must not be afraid to stop a threat which means take someone else's life to save others. The service does not need anyone who cannot handle this. If you cannot do this it means you cannot protect your coworkers. This also means you should never hope to be in a life threatening situation. Noone is wanting someone who is trigger happy.
