Lead by example definitely - I wouldn't ask somebody to do something if I myself wouldn't do it. And also it can be difficult for a new Supervisor to start a position where others have been working there for years and you ask them to do something - the reply you get could be "I've been here for years?? why should I listen to you??" - So to concentrate initially on building solid working relationships with everybody and ease into the role of supervisor.
