How would you handle a difficult customer?

It would depend on what is meant by difficult. If the customer is aggressive and confrontational to the point where the safety of myself or other employees was at risk then the police would be called. Otherwise just listening to people and empathizing and trying to find a solution to whatever problem they're having is the best way to go. A lot of times active listening and empathy are enough to calm down a upset customer.
