How would you handle a difficult situation with an irate customer?

When dealing with customers, I like to put myself in their shoes. Not all people are happy everyday... Knowing that people come from all walks of life and live very different lifestyles, helps you to understand, that everybody out there is on a different page than you are. They may be in a hurry, they may not be feeling well, dealing with family issue, death, birth.. Everything affects everyone differently. I'm not there to judge people, I'm there to help get done whatever their needs for that day may be. I don't ever expect anything from anyone, I talk the same and with the same pitch voice with everyone. Treat everyone the same. always smile when with a customer, they will also read your face and can have a mood change just by thinking your crabby...
