Based on my experience I would first make an on-the-spot correction. Then take ethe individual asside and explain why I made the correction. I would then asses based on their explanation whether the incident was a training fault or a case of laziness and willful neglect to abuse. Based on the answers would lead me to either give an oral warning or complete a written warning to provide to HR.
