let the customer say everything they have to say , let them explain before cutting them off , show empathy , apologize no matter the issue , provide them with the best solution for their problem WHILE staying in company policy

After providing the customer with extensive empathy, 1) allow the customer time to provide whatever comments he may have regarding his frustrations about his service experience, and 2) ask the customer if he/she would allow you to begin the process of resolving his/her issue in satisfactory manner. If the 2nd question is not answered in satisfactory manner, pose question #1 back to the customer.
