How would you respond to seeing another colleague stealing something?

As much as possible I don't want to create conflict  or any arguments among may colleagues, but if anyone commit violation by intention or accident, I will immediately report to my superior or boss,head office or to our HR department and let them take appropriate action.

If the company has stipulated channels to handle such situations then, I would report it to my boss or to the company's HR hotline manager so as to go through the proper company channels. If not, then i would take charge of the situation by confronting the colleague and potentially calling the police.
