      Candidatura

Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 2 meses. Fiz uma entrevista na empresa King County.

      Entrevista

This is what it looks like when a potential employer does not respect your time: Resume Cover letter *Sixteen* supplemental questions Long wait 20 min phone screen Long wait To the clearly stressed recruiter's credit, she sent interview questions 15 min in advance 50 min video panel interview - it was obvious the panel had not read my resume, cover letter, and 16 q's In person typing test downtown that could honestly have been conducted remotely - HR staff was inconsistent about indoor mask-wearing onsite, ironic for public health Short wait Generic "we have decided to pursue other candidates" template email, no details Also I just want to say that for a County that prides itself on equity, the hiring process seemed weird. There was a HEAVY emphasis on written materials, including extra materials that are not required for many jobs. But skill at writing prose and persuasive essays wasn't relevant to the ability to perform the core job duties. I feel there was a lack of mindfulness about the fact that their current hiring process is unconsciously designed to weed out candidates with limited English proficiency or poor writing skills, which could be due to disabilities or any number of disadvantages in our broken educational system. What they should really do is nix the cover letter and supplemental questions. Instead find a way to assess the skills needed for success in the position during the interview, like a role play phone call with the panel acting as a customer, or to test the candidate's ability to find a typo within a document. This default way of structuring interviews is part of why people end up hiring disproportionately advantaged candidates over and over. It perpetuates structural barriers and inequities in government.

      Pergunta 1

Tell us about your experience and why it makes you a good fit for this role. They also asked about equity, but the questions were worded in a non-woke way. I think they wanted textbook answers.
