Mock lesson based on presentation sent to you.

The presentation itself was easy compared to other English teaching platforms. I've been applying to quite a few online teaching jobs recently and this easily struck me as the most unprofessional. They offered me a second interview, which I have no intention of doing. The interviewer, Marianna, was highly unprofessional (I could hear a child screaming and crying in the background throughout the interview), and her feedback was greatly unfounded. As someone who has tutored in-person, and currently works in Higher Education, her English was absolutely appalling. I thought you had to be a native speaker to work for this company. Furthermore, she repeatedly told me that what I had did wrong was common sense. She also told me I didn't use TPR or explain each slide. Maybe if she hadn't been distracted by her screaming child she would've noticed these things. Having just recently interviewed with VIPKid, I can already say that they're far more professional, and their feedback is far more constructive. Micro Language sends you vague guidelines, which are barely helpful in the mock class. The guidelines mention a Chines teacher (co-teacher) as well as a multi-student class, yet the mock class in one-on-one. Just don't waste your time. VIPKid told me what I did wrong in a very constructive way and I feel very clear on what I need to do in my next interview. Marianna (the EST interviewer for Micro Language) was incredibly unhelpful and when I asked her questions to clarify she brushed it off as common sense. I also asked her if I could give her some feedback for the interview process (a standard procedure in the professional world) and she seemed taken back by this. Work on your attitude, Marianna, then you might be taken seriously. Look for other teaching platforms, this one really isn't worth your time.
