      Candidatura

Candidatei-me online. Fui entrevistado pela NCS (Ang Mo Kio New Town) em jun. de 2026

      Entrevista

Applied directly through the NCS workportal. Overall, this was a very disappointing interview experience. Both interviewers spoke unclearly with poor English proficiency, to the point where it would be difficult for most local candidates to follow. The interview started off with a self-introduction, though the interviewers only gave their names, no roles, departments, or context as to who was interviewing me. I couldn't tell if I was speaking to HR or someone from the technical team. There was also zero information provided about NCS as a company, no overview of what the company does, its core values, culture, or working practices, nothing. The email had described this as an "In-Person Talent Conversation," but in reality it was a full-on technical interrogation from start to finish, which then quickly turned into what felt like a deep dive into a project from my previous company. They went into an extensive technical rundown, asking questions whose answers were already clearly stated on my LinkedIn and CV, which made me question whether they had actually reviewed my profile beforehand. One of the interviewers also seemed visibly disengaged, frequently on her phone and looking away, especially when I had trouble understanding a question due to how it was phrased. It came across as unprofessional. What was most frustrating was that they didn't seem familiar with their own job posting. When I asked about certain roles and responsibilities listed on the portal, they insisted I had the details wrong, suggested I might be referring to a different role, and even attributed skills to me that weren't on my CV. After the interview, I double-checked, and none of those skills were listed anywhere on my CV. It felt like they were confused themselves, and that confusion spilled over into the interview. Overall, I felt the interviewers lacked the qualifications to conduct interviews. The structure was poor and communication was difficult throughout. While I understand vague job descriptions are fairly standard corporate language across companies, what stood out was the irony: after being grilled extensively on technical details about my previous job and project, when I finally asked what the testing team actually does, they gave the most untechnical, surface-level answer imaginable. To wrap this up, like I said it was an underwhelming and frankly unprofessional interview experience. NCS positions itself as a company that upholds strong corporate values, but based on this interview, there seems to be a significant gap between what is communicated externally and how candidates are actually treated. I expected a much higher standard of professionalism and preparedness from a company of this size and reputation.
