I said there might be come academic pure functional language, but I personally wasn't aware of any. Haskell, was the answer, which I had heard of, in terms of learning functional style programming with Java 8, but knew very little about it, as it is a very niche language that has a moment in the early 2000's, but is all but dead now, in terms of industry usage.
