I recently had a disappointing experience with a recruiter while interviewing for an executive-level position. Initially, I was hopeful when the recruiter reached out and scheduled a time to speak. However, during our first meeting, the recruiter was unengaged, reading from a list of questions without any personal interaction. About ten minutes in, she abruptly ended the meeting due to a scheduling conflict, asking to reschedule. I adjusted my schedule to accommodate a follow-up meeting the next day, hoping for a better experience. Unfortunately, the second interview was similarly unfulfilling. Despite a more personable tone, the recruiter seemed disinterested in my responses and did not reference my resume. As we wrapped up, she mentioned that my next interview would be with the physician executive and casually advised me to wear a sport coat, which surprised me since I was dressed professionally in a turtleneck. After the interview, I received an email outlining the next steps, which initially excited me. However, just two hours later, I received another email stating that the executive leadership team had chosen another candidate. Overall, this experience was extremely unprofessional for an executive-level recruitment process, leaving me feeling undervalued and disappointed
