I applied to Octopus on Saturday 13th June 2020 and received an email from Aasimah from Instant Impact on the Monday. We scheduled to have a phone call, which lasted around 10 minutes. Aasimah then invited me to a 30 minute Skype interview where she asked me questions surrounding my motivations and why I want to work in customer service, as well as my understanding of the role and examples of certain qualities when dealing with customers. I was then invited to an interview with two energy specialists from Octopus, which also lasted around 30 minutes. This interview focused particularly Octopus as a company and the interviewers asked my about my understanding of the role, Octopus' competitors, as well as examples of when I have dealt with customers. The next step was to complete a verbal and numerical reasoning test which lasted around 15-20 minutes. I wouldn't say it was easy as such, I'm not strong at Maths so I definitely had to do a bit of revision and practise beforehand. The last step in the interview process was an interview with two operations managers, however, it was mainly one manager who was asking the questions. This interview involved questions about my hobbies and the skills I have gained/developed from these hobbies. I wasn't asked many questions which were directly about the job role or Octopus as a company. This also lasted around 30 minutes. I was then offered the job a couple of days after this final interview. Overall, it was a really enjoyable experience and every person I spoke to was friendly which made the process a lot more enjoyable. The manager who interviewed me in my final round stated at the start of my interview that he doesn't like formality so he was very casual and chilled out which definitely took the pressure off me, as we were able to have a laugh and a joke. I would definitely say the interview with the energy specialists was more difficult as it was more technical, but I think that depends on your interviewer for the final round.
