I was contacted via Linkedin, following a conversation with the hiring manager, i was told to follow the standard channels, so I applied via their careers page. I was contacted soon by their HR and had another more formal phone interview. The process was extremely drawn out, was told following each step 'that i would hear back from someone soon'. Having not heard back from either the hiring manager nor the HR person, i wrote back asking for an update. The hiring manager got back to me saying they had hired another person but they did not accept the offer due to inflexibility with WFH; so why don't i come in-person for an interview, which I did. In retrospect i should have told them at this point, thanks but no thanks, since they obviously didn't value my time, but I didn't. Following the next interview, i heard nothing back, again. Frankly, I expected more and better communication from the hiring manager and HR. I believe my relative lack of experience with directing social media was the determining factor, something i did in previous positions, but not as my sole responsibility, but as I received no feedback or even an autogenerated rejection, it's just speculation. Did I need to be an instagram 'influencer' as well, to do social media for an institution that is virtually unknown outside of the immediate area?
