A: While the responsibility to address developer work quality/consistency doesn't fall within my authority, my suggestion to an EM would be to approach the situation with empathy. There's often an underlying reason beyond the easy assumption of laziness or poor work ethic. Folks have challenges outside of work that could interfere with their jobs, or maybe their workload is untenable. Approaching the situation with empathy allows an open conversation and raises the odds of a positive outcome for all parties involved.
