I recently interviewed with Roar Africa for a designer role and was told I was a strong match for the position. The first interview went smoothly, and I was excited about the opportunity. However, I was asked to complete a design test that took me two full workdays to complete—without compensation. I went above and beyond what was asked, but despite being told that my application stood out, they ultimately decided not to move forward with my candidacy. While I understand that not every process leads to an offer, the time and effort I invested into the test felt undervalued, especially given the initial feedback I received. I hope Roar Africa will reconsider how they handle design tests in the future, particularly the need for transparency and fair compensation for candidates' time.
