After applying and completing an initial phone interview for a new location that had recently opened in Colorado I was told I would be flown out on their dime for an in person interview. They said they wanted me to come out as soon as I could, but to send them the flights and costs before booking because they would be paying for it via reimbursement. However, once I sent them the cheapest options I could find (typical prices for flying from California to Colorado) they said to hold off and wait to come out until later when the prices had dropped. I'm nothing special but this was very poor form in my opinion. During this week I had another phone interview and was offered to be flown out the very next weekend (very expensive, last minute flight) by another local Colorado firm who paid for the flight and rental car. Having the complete opposite experience simultaneously made me realize this firm was just stringing me along and wasn't really in need of someone as soon as they said. I also met someone here later who worked for this firm in the past and they said they weren't surprised to hear this. Sounds like it's a good place to work in San Diego, but that it's a different experience in their smaller branch offices where they are trying to expand. Also, about a month after I had taken the other job and already moved to Colorado, I got an email back from Rick saying they were ready to fly me out for the in person interview.
