I submitted an online application and received an initial interview, during which time I was told I was the lead candidate, with just one other in consideration, and that there would be a second interview. I submitted examples of my work in the interim and waited for my second interview, which never happened. They ended up hiring someone less-qualified, who has required much more training. They also asked to go outside my list of references, even though I asked them not to, and "outed" me to my manager, informing them that I was job hunting, which has put me in an awkward position.
