I studied at Pratt. I have a BFA in Apparel Design. After Pratt I became a Fashion Editor, then worked in "Public Relations" and "Publicity" for, among others, The National Handbag Association. It was necessary for me to find trend worthy stories to present to FASHION EDITORS...WHICH I DID. One of the owners of a Huge company, at the time, MARGOLIN, asked my WHY his company was not getting "editorial coverage?" My reply was, because you need to be doing "RED" or "TURQ" or whatever was happening at the time His reply was, if you are so smart - then, design our line...I did, with great success. I had the education of working "hip-2-hip with their European Sample Makers & working in the factories & learning what every machine is & what it does. I loved the factories & got an education in this regard. After Margolin, I designed for many companies, including "Perlina" and many others. "I was "Design & Color Consultant" for Brown Shoe. Then, launched my own consulting company = Nancy Collins Designs = handbags, belts , footwear, gloves. I know what "it" is & I know how-2-do it.
