I recalled a time when a colleague raised her voice at me and I asked her to step into another room. I allowed her to vent her frustrations and then explained my position calmly without raising my voice. Once she felt her concerns were validated, she saw my position and we came to a simple resolution. We went to lunch a week later and she apologized explaining she was going through a personal tragedy. We had lunch several times after I left the company.
