I received a response from a recruiter about a month after applying. The phone call with the recruiter was relaxed and honest. The call with the hiring manager was straightforward, but the questions felt a bit canned and generic (e.g. what brands do you like). There were no specific questions about my thought process, my portfolio pieces, or even what I would do differently with Tinder. The following week I was asked to submit a sample for a design test: design a modal announcing a new feature allowing matching with others live at an event. I made a couple of comps and a Framer prototype. Two days later I was told they were moving forward with a few other candidates for on-site interviews.

The interview process was shorter than other places. It only consisted of 3 total stages. Overall very quick and efficient. First was the recruiter screening, then a 1:1 with the hiring manager, and finally a panel interview with cross-functional team members where I presented peices from my portfolio.
