I received a call for an interview within a week of submitting my resume. The interview was with two staff members from the department and was casual and laid back. I heard back after the interview within two weeks. Upon receiving the offer letter I was asked to provide proof of car insurance and consent to a background check. There is a great deal of training, provided on site and is paid for, that is needed prior to actually starting the job.
