      Recruiter screen Hiring manager screen. Take-home assessment. Tech interview to discuss the take-home assessment. PM interview (kind of a cultural-fit style). Overall one of the best interview experiences I've had. All interviewers were very welcoming, and the process was fast and smooth.

      Had a call with the recruiter, followed by a call with an engineering manager, followed by a take home code challenge that is implementing some Rails code following some Figma designs. Bonus points if you can use Hotwire.

      Fiz uma entrevista na empresa Tropic.

      Genuinely enjoyable, but neurodivergent applicants beware. Process: 1. 15 minute with screener who seemed genuinely rushed and asked questions that made it seem as though they didn't look at my resume. 2. Meet with the CTO who is very kind-hearted and good-natured. 3. An assessment which is pretty typical for their software stack; no puzzles here. 4. Review with two engs. 5. Decision. During my screener I had disclosed I was neurodivergent (this has never been a problem in employment or hiring-past) and the screener seemed accepting. Upon learning I was a no-hire "your technical interview went great and we're sure you're a great engineer but" I was made aware that I should have disclosed my neurodivergence during each interview stage. Normally this is documented by the screener so that the interviewer doesn't have to go through the awkward part. This was gravely disappointing.

We pride ourselves on an inclusive, accepting, and accommodating work environment and culture for all our employees and candidates, and are always looking for ways to improve. We are glad to hear that your experience with the CTO and overall interview experience was positive. After you initially reached out, we did an internal investigation over the last two days. We can assure you that we did not make a hiring decision based on you being a neurodivergent candidate as outlined in our structure attribute-based scorecards. As you mentioned, we include other teams and crossfunctional members to further assess potential team chemistry, work style, communication style, etc.- because these factors are equally as important as someone’s technical abilities. That being said, we have a very high bar and only extend offers to individuals who excel across all of the attributes being assessed, not just their technical ability. How someone speaks about others, especially past employers and coworkers, the language they choose to use, and how they will be able to add to our culture are extremely important to us. Making crude and disparaging comments, and using excessive profanity when discussing coworkers does not align with our company values. We have put a lot of effort into creating an inclusive culture where everyone supports each other, and we will do whatever it takes to protect that, including making a difficult hiring decision.
