Massive set of questions and testing. Understand it is easier now . There is a difference between "in service" and "outside". In service means you already are employed there. The testing is easier in service. So I suggest just get in, then transfer to the job you want. Also depends if their area has a position available. However, they do have a "roster" holding for people who have qualified.

The interview process was in my opinion fair and informative. There was a panel of four leaders (one virtually) who not only evaluated and questioned me but also answered any questions I had that were related to the position, but they also filled me in on several important aspects about the organization that would be helpful if hired.

I had my interview for the USPS Maintenance Mechanic job today. They asked a lot about my technical skills and experience with repairs and maintenance. I talked about my ability to troubleshoot issues, follow safety protocols, and work independently. Overall, I think I did well in explaining how I could contribute to the team.
