Some resistance to chance is inevitable. By forming a personal connection with the customer and helping them to understand the advantages and help that a new system could bring, while avoiding stepping on their toes or appearing to doubt their knowledge as an expert, it's generally no problem to reach a compromise. In many cases, a top-down approach from management can also be helpful in driving this change.
