When I provided my expected salary, I was told it was too high. I was then told that the team had tried to hire for this role twice already in different regions. When the internal recruiter returned to the team with all the candidates' expected salaries, they terminated recruitment as none of them were within their budget. Presumably they will now repeat their strategy in another region, wasting more candidates' time, until they find one where their low budget is acceptable.
