Solid is one of the three fundamental states of matter, along with liquid and gas. A solid is characterized by its fixed shape and volume. The particles that make up a solid are tightly packed together, giving it a rigid structure. Here are some key properties of solids: Fixed shape: Solids maintain their shape even when placed in a new container. Fixed volume: Solids have a definite volume and do not change in size unless compressed or heated. Rigid structure: Solids resist changes in shape due to their strong intermolecular forces. Incompressible: Solids are generally difficult to compress due to the close arrangement of their particles.
