I povided my favorite simple example of a glass of beer. Technically , one is measured in watts and the other in volt amper. The real power that is useful vs the one not useful. Beer is the active power, while foam is the reactive, though present in the glass, it does not quench the thirst. Active power is what supplies enrgy to run a machine, while the reactive is there just to sustain a magnetic field in a system for instance
