What is your greatest weakness?

I am so tired of this useless and insulting question! Job seekers are told that it's purpose is to measure a candidate's ability to overcome and improve personal deficiencies, thereby making them a better person and a more acceptable employee...what a crock! The weakness question is a standard off the shelf interview formality that is so overused it has lost it's meaning and purpose. It has no relevance whatsoever to who you are as a person and what you have to offer the company or organization. Should you sit in an interview while a manager or CEO stares down at you sternly like some traffic cop who just pulled you over for speeding? Should you be required to give the exact answers to meaningless questions the way they want to hear them, or else? Well, these people seem to think so! I was very disappointed to get this dumb, robotic question twice from the same guy in two interviews with Glendive MC...but I gave him the same answer(paraphrasing): "Hey, I don't like to waste time worrying about things I don't do well or like doing, I rather focus on the things I do well every day that make every one's lives better...like fixing network problems, building better systems, or eliminating user frustration. If your hospital needs some one like that, that's the kind of professional I am." If an interviewer really thinks potential employees are expected to sit there and psychoanalyze themselves and reveal their greatest fears or worst nightmares for the full amusement of some inexperienced jerk who doesn't know how to engage in a real conversation, then this organization is probably not for you...keep looking. If your common sense answers to their unimaginative and canned, cliche'd interview questions are not enough to get them to have a real dialogue with you - treating you like a person instead of some one who should beg for a job - just walk out! You don't want to work there. You will be unhappy. Conclusion: What is my greatest weakness? Really? What are you, my psychiatrist?
