low cycle - fewer number of cycles experienced by product
high cycle - product used for longer time, goes through more cycles

Low cycle: plastic deformation in each cycle, low number of cycles (finite endurance)
High cycle: elastic range, fatigue occurs above 10^3-10^4 cycles (S-N curve)

Low cycle means low frequency cycle
Example: when you have a rotating shaft bending back and forth
High cycle is when you have dynamic excitation and the part vibrates near the first mode
