I gave an honest answer and in some contexts, it makes sense to ask this, but since the ONLY follow-up was to my answer was "well, you're young enough to remember", I don't think it was appropriate to ask. Not only did it not shed any light on my abilities as a marketer (10+ years, 5+ years in email alone), it felt like age discrimination.
