If a client refuses to focus on the task at hand, I would choose a similar task to work on. As I've seen with myself, when there is something that I find hard By working on a related question/problem/task, I might be able to see why the client felt that they could not complete/answer it. Better equipped, and having increased their confidence, we would revisit the task.
