Which part are you interested in? Designing or Coding?

We always value feedback, even from people we don't hire, so thank you for taking the time to share your experience! The reason for us writing this note today is because you mentioned the interview was 'easy' and I'd like to explain why that may have happened and why that is a good thing... We try to make the first interview as easy-peezy as possible! We want you to be comfortable so we can have a normal conversation and get to know each other. We look for 'soft' skills when we speak on the phone with candidates for the first time; politeness, volume control, clarity in explanations, etc. We even think about energy! Normal conversation is important to 'feel people out'. After the first interview, I can assure you it's not 'that' easy to get through the door. We have small (and secret) score cards we keep to rate candidates in all sorts of things (they relate to skills, personality traits, qualifications, and more), and we compare them internally and discuss the winner and the person we want to take to the next phase, or hopefully hire! I want to encourage anyone out there reading this to just 'be yourself'. If you're not right for us, I'm certain we're not right for you either :o). Having said the above, I have to point out that I do not believe we interviewed candidates in New York or for New York positions. In addition, we've never had "Digital Marketing" as a job title. Maybe (just maybe) this is the wrong company you posted this entry for? But if I'm totally wrong (would not be the first time!), then the only reason I could think of for asking whether you are interested in designing or coding (which seems a little strange) is because we occasionally receive resumes from candidates who have very mixed backgrounds. E.g., they started out as a designer, then got interested in coding, and both are on the resume and we need to clarify and understand where the passion is! Hope this helps!
