I did not study IT in school and have picked it up through practical job experiences. I do continue to study and learn...both from books, internet searches, colleagues and other practical requirements and do not believe proving I can pass a test shows I'm more qualified than without it. Plus, as someone who has seen things in action in the real world, I can tell you that a lot of times, the book-given answer doesn't always work. Someone who just goes based on the certification study may not know how to try different things to achieve a solution if the book answer doesn't work.
