Resume was referred to this company by a friend. Referral earned me a written screen after which two half hour phone interviews. Phone interviews included a review of the manager's group, responsibilities of the position, work conditions at CREE, etc. There were some technical questions related to equipment used in semiconductor processing. No problem. Invited for an on-site interview which consisted of a thirty minute talk followed by 4 one-on-one interviews, lunch with three or so group members, and then two additional one-on-one interviews. The interview sessions were reasonable most of them ran about 45 minutes of which twenty minutes would be spent in general discussions and the last twenty technical questions followed by a five minute wrap. Don't plan to relax at lunch by having causal conversations. Half of the interviewers were pleasant and the other half were, as an earlier poster indicated, arrogant. They are fond of the fact that they run a 24-7 facility and consider being first to the market more important than anything else. After my interview I didn't think that I would enjoy working in their environment and that I would probably bore of the job after a year.

Long but fair. Started with an HR interview where I was asked standard questions as well as a time where I had to solve a technical problem and the steps I took to do so, then a 2nd phone interview with a manager who was friendly and polite. I was asked a combination of questions from what I am looking for in a job culturally,, behavioral questions, and some very straightforward technical questions pertaining to LEDs and semiconductors. I am preparing for my 3rd interview now and was told to expect 4 total before an offer. All the interviews are still over the phone, none in person. For the 3rd interview I have been asked to prepare a 30 minute presentation on research or a project I have completed and to expect 30 minutes of follow up questions from 3-4 R&D managers.
