- Yes and No. I should have enlisted after high school, then used the GI Bill and gone to College and then become an Officer. A lot of the motivation of a young officer is lost when he suddenly has to deal with the asinine amount of paperwork and staff operations. Being an enlisted grunt is what most of us fantasize about-and wish we could have done as we're sitting at our desk going on 10 hours pumping out training plans, AARs, Confirmation briefs etc etc.
