It is important that you know how to do this correctly in both Java and C++. I'd write the solution on the provided paper in both languages. It is important that you practice it beforehand not just on the computer, but also on paper, so you are perfectly comfortable with it. I am not sure how the interviewer would react if you told her that you already knew this question. Answering this question correctly is no guarantee of a job offer.
